Which Spring Vegetable Are You?

    Groove into spring with your Springtime spirit vegetable, according to your zodiac sign. 

    Aries (March 21 – April 19): Green Beans

    Although you have a big, fiery appetite and tend to crave spicy food, at the end of the day, you can always be found reaching for the classics. And when it comes to spring veggies, green beans are as classic as it gets.

    Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Carrots

    The best part of the whole meal for a Taurus is the dessert, which is why your spring veggie of choice is one that walks the line between sweet and savoury: carrots.

    Gemini (May 21 – June 20): Radishes

    You love your afternoon snack and rarely go a day without it. Carrots with hummus, yogurt and granola, or sweet potato toast are your best pick-me-ups. But this spring, it’s all about raw sliced radishes with fresh baguette and a tad bit of butter.

    Cancer (June 21 – July 22): Potatoes

    Nothing is too fancy or too simple for you, Cancer, which is why humble potatoes are your sign’s go-to spring veggie. Dressed up or dressed down, the tried-and-true tater never disappoints.

    Leo (July 23 – August 22): Asparagus

    If you had the choice, Leo, you’d opt for one large meal in addition to several smaller snacks throughout the day. And when you have to cook, you prefer to do it with the whole family close by — which explains the crowd-pleasing asparagus. Minimal prep, maximum flavour, and easy to make a whole lot of by tossing in the oven or on the grill.

    Virgo (August 23 – September 22): Mint

    Since virgos tend to be health conscious, you fill up your plate with colourful, fresh produce and lean proteins that are naturally flavoured with herb-studded marinades, dressings, and garnishes. You enjoy ’em all, but mint tops the list.

    Libra (September 23 – October 22): Mushrooms

    Libras are big fans of feasting on a little bit of everything — salad, appetizers, proteins, more veg, grains, etc, etc. Fortunately, shrooms are versatile enough to shine in every form, however, you slice and dice ’em.

    Scorpio (October 23 – November 21): Cucumbers

    If there’s one kitchen item you need at all times, it’s a stacked spice drawer. Fortunately, crisp and hydrating cukes are a blank slate for all your seasoning needs — especially when it comes to dill, thyme, chilli powder, garlic, pepper, turmeric, basil, rosemary, and cilantro.

    Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21): Sugar Snap Peas

    Since a Sagittarius is typically well travelled, we have a feeling you opt for exotic, creative cuisine when possible. And with crisp and crunchy snap peas on hand, sticky-sweet stir fries are a quick, 30 minutes away.

    Capricorn (December 22 – January 19): Dill

    Capricorns are devoted to the ritual of a home-cooked meal and love nothing more than to return home from work or school and bust out the pots and pans. No kitchen task is too mundane for you, so taking a minute or two to chop up some dill? No problem.

    Aquarius (January 20 – February 18): Tomatillos

    If you’re not already a full-fledged vegetarian, you definitely hop on the plant-based bandwagon several days per week — which means veggies, especially unique ones like tomatillos, make frequent appearances in your kitchen.

    Pisces (February 19 – March 20): Parsley

    Pisces are visual, creative thinkers, which explains why you’re often experimenting in the kitchen with the less well-known veggies, as well as a slew of bold, fragrant herbs like parsley.
