These pretty eggshell candles make the perfect Easter table decorations. Cheap, cheerful and easy-to-make, these little shiners will have your table looking as good as the Easter lunch you serve up! All you’ll need is a few eggs, some acrylic paint, soy wax and some wick.

    Instructions:

[columns_row width=”half”] [column]Easter Decorations Candles[/column] [column]Poke a small hole at either end of the eggs and blow gently into one hole until the inside comes out the other end. Then chip away at the hole with a small utensil until the hole gets bigger. Wash out the hollowed eggshells with warm water and leave them to dry on a tea-towel. Jagged edges make the candles look eggs-tremely pretty – no uniform lines needed here!

Once this is done, paint your eggs with pastel colours (why not spatter some colours on top to have a nice pattern?) and leave to dry.

Now that your cracked eggs are dry, place your soy candle wax into a Pyrex jug (or double boiler saucepan) and pop into boiling water on the stove to melt. It will turn clear when ready, so take off the heat as soon as it’s melted.
Now place a long wick into your eggshell and pour the wax in so the wick stands in the middle as carefully as you can (if the kids are helping make sure the adults take over at this point!) Use a funnel to improve your pouring accuracy and fill each eggshell only 1/3 of the way with wax.

Once the wax has set, carefully place your shells in egg cups (the more decorative the better) and pop on the table ready to wow your guests. And there you have it, super simple and beautifully handmade Easter decorations!

Why not make a few extra and hand them to your guests as favours to take away with them to remember your delicious homemade Easter feast?
