Cheese Tasting London: The Cheese Wheel & The Cheese Truck

March 17, 2017

There are many, many delicious things in this life, but one thing that spans so many continents and cuisines is the love of cheese. Whether it’s melty, stringy cheddar, mozzarella or a strong blue gorgonzola, there’s a cheese for everyone out there. This year, cheese tasting in London is on a whole new level. Have you heard of the Cheese Truck or the Cheese Wheel? They’re new eateries that celebrate the glory of cheese in every single dish. If you’re a cheese lover – get down there, stat and try cheese as you’ve never had it before.

[/column] [column]It’s the UK’s first Cheese Wheel stall, with hand rolled pasta with next level sauces and tossing in their Cheese Wheels.

At the Cheese Wheel, not only do they hand-roll their fettuccine fresh every day, they also cook it and then spin it in a giant wheel of parmesan. Hurrah! You can choose from three sauces: white wine cream, mushroom cream or cream of tomato.

We think this technique of adding hot pasta into cheese is the best way to add parmesan onto your pasta…. much more effective that a little sprinkle.

    [/column] [column]The Cheese Truck’s been melting cheese since 2013.

But it’s only recently, since the beginning of March, that founder Matthew Carver and his sidekick Alfie – his yellow van – have taken up permanent residency in Camden Stables. They make absolutely winning cheese toasties to celebrate British Cheeses with a range of delightful combos like bacon and pear chutney or walnut and rosemary butter.

In their first two years they’ve sold over twenty tonnes of cheese, and somewhere in the region of 100,000 grilled cheese sandwiches. They’ve at a range of places from Glastonbury to high profile fashion events for Alexander McQueen and even spent 6 weeks trading in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. So, you see… everybody loves British cheese!

“We’ll only serve food we’re proud of and we’ll only ever serve food that puts a smile on your face!” says Matthew.
