3 Hot Chocolate Recipes You Have To Try

Baby, it’s cold outside…but at least you’ve got a big mug of hot chocolate to keep you warm.

Here are 3 Hot Chocolate Recipes that you have to make this winter. For extra indulgence, use 70% cocoa solids or milk chocolate (depending on how chocolatey you like it), top with whipped cream and marshmallows, then serve with your favourite dunking cookies.

The Traditional: Classic Hot Chocolate Recipe

Zutaten

  • Makes 2

    • 400ml milk
    • 100g dark chocolate (bittersweet or semisweet, as preferred)
    • 2 tsp honey
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1 cinnamon stick
    • Whipped cream to top

Instructions:

  1. Put the milk into a saucepan with the chocolate (broken into small pieces), the cinnamon and the honey and heat gently until the chocolate is completely melted.
  2. Add the vanilla and mix with a small hand whisk until slightly frothy.
  3. Take out the cinnamon stick, pour into 2 mugs, and top with whipped cream.

The Indulgent: Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate Recipe

400ml milk

100g dark chocolate (bittersweet or semisweet, as preferred)

2tbp Salted Caramel Sauce

Whipped cream to top

Method:

  1. Put the milk into a small saucepan with the finely chopped dark chocolate and the salted caramel sauce.
  2. Warm, stirring over medium heat, until chocolate is melted and you have a rich hot liquid.
  3. Divide between two mugs, top with whipped cream and a drizzling of salted caramel sauce.

The Boozy: Coconut Rum Hot Chocolate Recipe

400ml milk

50ml coconut rum
100g dark chocolate (bittersweet or semisweet, as preferred)
2 tsp honey
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cinnamon stick

Method

  1. Put the milk into a saucepan with the chocolate (broken into small pieces), the cinnamon, vanilla, and the honey and heat gently until the chocolate is completely melted.
  2. With a small hand whisk, whisk a spoonful of rum into the mixture at a time. Add more or less to your preference.
  3. Take out the cinnamon stick and pour into 2 mugs. Bottoms up!
